Yes. Meta gives every WhatsApp Business API account 1,000 free service (customer-initiated) conversations per month. This resets on the first of each month. Conversations beyond that threshold are charged at the regional service rate.
A conversation is a 24-hour message window. Once opened by either a business-initiated or customer-initiated message, all messages within that 24-hour period count as one conversation. If the window expires and a new message is sent, a new conversation (and charge) begins.
Meta does not charge for API access directly, but you need a Business Solution Provider (BSP) like Twilio, MessageBird, or 360dialog to connect. BSPs may charge their own platform fees on top of the per-conversation costs shown here.
Meta typically updates WhatsApp API pricing once or twice per year. The rates in this calculator are approximate and based on recent published pricing. Always verify with your BSP for the latest rates.
You can use up to 1,000 free service conversations per month. Beyond that, all conversation types are charged. There is no fully free tier for business-initiated conversations like marketing, utility, or authentication.
